Boracay is Asia’s 24/7 destination

11 February 2016 - Danny B. Dangcalan, Philippines Sun Star

The February heat brings thoughts of summer, and whenever our friends talk about where to spend their summer, Boracay would always be in the Top 10, or the Top 3, or Top 1.

Yes, Boracay Island is the Miss Universe of summer getaways, not just in our archipelago, but in all the world. Take that, Colombia!

In 2012, Boracay, with its world-famous pristine white sand and crystal clear waters, was voted the World’s Best Island by readers of “Travel + Leisure,” an international travel magazine. It even beat Bali (Indonesia), Galapagos Islands, and Santorini (Greece).

In 2015, Boracay was named the best beach in Asia by the world’s largest travel website, TripAdvisor in its Travelers’ Choice Awards.

Boracay’s White Beach, to be specific, received the top rank for its “calm, warm waters, gently sloping sand,” which the site described as “very relaxing” and “possibly the most beautiful beach in Asia.”

Dubbed Asia’s 24/7 Island, Boracay never fails to amaze tourists for its picture-perfect view. As such, it is also one of the top choices for beach weddings.

Many companies across the country even purposely schedule their product launchings, seminars, team-building, recollection, and other important activities in Boracay – preferably during summer – to give employees and guests the work-fun-play experience.

That’s what we had in April last year, when Global Business Power Corporation and Panay Energy Development Corporation invited us to cover the signing of a 25-year Electric Power Purchase Agreement with the Panay-Guimaras Power Supply Consortium at the Boracay Regency Hotel.

After work, we get to enjoy the “sand, sea, and sun” of Boracay.

Aside from the food trip galore, there are lots of activities to do in the daytime such as island-hopping, scuba diving, parasailing, paraw-sailing, standup paddling, flyfish, cliff diving, zorb and zipline, ATV (all-terrain vehicle) ride, mermaid swimming, and beach sports.

In the nighttime, first, one can go sunset watching, then dinner al fresco, and later enjoy the partying at the beach and watch the fire dancers. Or shop for souvenir items.

Boracay never sleeps, it is indeed Asia’s 24/7 island.
