Thailand will never disappoint when the object is to experience the best that the summer season has to offer. The Southeast Asian country’s combination of palm-fringed beaches and naturally welcoming people are tempting enough that international visitors regularly pick Thailand as their holiday destination. And surely, there are more compelling reasons the kingdom is a tourism haven.

One of them is Koh Samui, which is Thailand’s second largest island and is equally renowned for its rugged forest, luxurious resorts and posh spas. As the island lies in the Gulf of Thailand, a breath-taking panoramic view of the sea is a regular feature for holidaymakers to enjoy. Or they can opt to actually take the plunge and get a taste of the nearly unspoiled tropical life in Koh Samui.

Fisherman’s Village

The first stop for such a mission is the Fisherman’s Village in Bophut, which many frequent visitors described as the place to live the ultimate island paradise. The serenity that the village offers will soothe one into a relaxing mode while relishing generous servings of the local fresh food. The latter is mostly prepared with obvious traces of curry and spices.

But during the night, Bophut wonderfully explodes with life and among the highlights is a trip to the night market dubbed as Walking Street. In the middle of seeming maze of merchandises, shoppers can pick through the mind-boggling number of clothes and accessories that boutiques sell. Needless to say, great bargains await the more intrepid buyers.

Koh Samui also provides for magical Instagram moments, perhaps best captured in the seaside rock formation called by the locals as Hin Ta Hin Yai. It came as no surprise that the spot has attracted countless visitors wanting to immortalise the stop they had made on the enchanting spot, which only intensifies on its allure when the sun starts on its descent.

Legend has it that the Hin Ta Hin Yai formed from the bodies of a couple that died tragically at the sea and washed ashore, a backstory that certainly adds more enigma to what appears as a lasting monument of love.

Chaweng Beach

Tagged by tourism authorities as the most popular beach in this part of Thailand, Chaweng Beach is a magnet for vacationers seeking the most satisfying experience they can get from Koh Samui. During the day, Chaweng’s luxury hotels and resorts pamper visitors with spa sessions or simply leave them under the sun to enjoy stretches of me-time while staring at the endless sea horizon.

By nightfall, the Chaweng party starts and trendy bars begin the blaring of live music as if calling on the islanders – visitors and locals alike – to come out and live life to the fullest, which essentially is an everyday occurrence on the beach. Chaweng Beach is a vivid picture fun-filled lifestyle that for many, heading out later is not an easy thing to do.
