Sri Lanka Rebrands Global Tourism Drive With Fresh Tagline – ‘So Sri Lanka’
Leveraging its rapidly increasing tourism appeal, Sri Lanka has decided to sport a new brand identity that the country deems will resonate with millions of would-be visitors from around the world. So Sri Lanka is the new tourism tagline to spearhead the island paradise’s latest effort to advertise Sri Lanka as among the best travel destinations in the world.
The new tagline, according to Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) Chairman Dehan Seneviratne, is “very natural, simple and highly adaptable.” The SLTPB officially launched So Sri Lanka at the WTM 2018 held on November 5 and will be followed by a wide-reaching advertising campaign that will stretch through February 2019.
The fresh theme, which replaced the “Wonder of Asia” tagline, is designed “to bring out the authenticity of Sri Lanka’s tourism product with greater engagement with travellers and locals,” The Daily Mirror reported.
“It’s different to what we have now. It has freshness and absolute simplicity. Therefore, it can be easily adaptable to engage people,” the publication reported Seneviratne as saying.
Selling Sri Lanka To The World
In addition, the SLTPB has plans to promote So Sri Lanka to targeted markets around the world and the campaign will commence at the ITB Berlin on March 2019. Per The Mirror report, the annual travel trade fair in Germany is acknowledged as the biggest and most prestigious in the world.
It will be a comprehensive promotion of Sri Lanka that will last up to three years and will zero in on countries identified by tourism officials as the country’s major source of international visitors, namely India, China, Germany, the United Kingdom and France.
Also, So Sri Lanka will be advertised on specific markets from which the so-called high-yielding tourists originate from. The campaign will be seen too in Japan and select countries in the Middle East, the SLTPB said in a statement.
The end-goal for the new tourism thrust is to draw in both high-yielding and critical mass visitors, Seneviratne.
Sri Lanka A Rising Tourism Choice
In recent years, Sri Lanka gained a solid reputation as among the most preferred destinations by overseas tourists, and according to The Financial Express it’s easy to understand why. “Sri Lanka offers many attractions to tourists,” the report said.
In the capital of Colombo, visitors will be easily hooked with the offerings of a vibrant nightlife, casinos and great food. Or if the choice is the country side like Kandy or the coastal city of Galle, there will be mountains, wildlife and breath-taking panoramic views to enjoy.
Tourism authorities said Sri Lanka can be easily considered as a year-round destination for the plethora of activities that await visitors no matter the season in effect, and likely is one of the compelling reasons the Lonely Planet declared the country as the best country in the world to visit in 2019.
